TULUM, MX.- Two tourists who were kayaking were rescued by elements of the Citizen Security Secretariat and the Secretary of the Navy after strong waves pushed them away from the shore, in an area located between the municipal head and Akumal.

According to the statement published by the SSC, the rescue of these tourists was achieved thanks to the visitors managing to link an application on their cell phone with the Command Center (C5), in order to request support from the authorities.

For the search and location operation, the authorities used the State Police helicopter, which flew for several minutes until it located the foreign tourists.

Both tourists were found healthy and safe, and were then taken to Puerto Aventuras for prompt medical attention.
