Cancun, Quintana Roo (December 5, 2020). — In an interview with the Origen newscast, state governor Carlos Joaquin expressed his concern over the growing increase of Coronavirus cases in Cancun.

“I am concerned about the number of cases, mainly in Cancun. Although the number of deaths has not grown, hospital occupancy today is 20 percent and before it was below 17 percent. There have been 3 points of growth.”

He says there has been “a strong relaxation, there is a lack of enforcement by businessmen, merchants regarding the agreement of the proper use of hygiene habits. The virus exists, it is there. It would be unfortunate when we are close to reaching green, for this to lead us back to orange, a rebound due to the irresponsibility of some people.”

During the interview, he commented that “it would be regrettable to return to orange.”
