The Island of Holbox, a paradisiacal tourist destination located in the state of Quintana Roo, suffered serious damage after the passage of the cold front 32 that left floods and caused strong winds.

On social networks, videos circulate showing the damage caused by the cold front in this tourist paradise; lost cabins, flooded premises, fallen poles, were just some of the damages.

The events were recorded this Monday, February 5, where the North event, in combination with the front 32, caused a storm with hurricane winds, which triggered strong waves that destroyed everything in their path in Holbox.

The palapas, restaurants, hotels and businesses near the coast ended up under water, even one of the videos shows the moment when the famous letters of the Island were knocked down by the water.

Likewise, after the damage, it was reported that the electricity was interrupted, as well as the internet connection, leaving inhabitants and tourists isolated.

In addition, due to the high waves, the services of the Holbox Express shipping company to Chiquilá were suspended, so the tourists who were in the place were unable to leave the island.

It should be noted that, according to the inhabitants of Holbox, a storm of this magnitude had not been recorded for six years, so the one on Monday left them impressed.

Will the strong winds and high waves continue?

Previously, the State Civil Protection Coordination of Quintana Roo had announced that on Monday a cold air mass that drives the cold front 32 would enter, causing a strong North event.

For this Tuesday, the corporation highlighted that “the cold air mass that is associated with the cold front number 32, will maintain a strong” North “event with waves during this morning on the coasts of Quintana Roo in addition to areas with fog that affect the state. “

It is forecast that the North Event will impact various areas, including:
