Scandal in Cancún! An intervention by the Tourist Police (NOT Traffic Police) once again exposed institutional disregard.
Attorney Rua Abogado recorded the moment a Tourist Police officer detained him. The officer was NOT wearing his body camera at the start of the procedure. He had to go find it and put it on later, when the detention was already underway.
This is not a mistake; it is a complete lack of respect for the public. Body cameras must record FROM THE VERY FIRST SECOND to prevent abuse, corruption, and arbitrary actions. If they are activated late or only when it suits them, they are just an expensive decoration paid for with taxpayer money.
How long are we going to tolerate this farce?
We demand the following from the Public Security Secretariat and the Benito Juárez City Council:
- Immediate and public explanations.
- Exemplary punishment for officers who do not use the cameras correctly.
- Real protocols, not simulations for photo ops.
Enough with the theatrics! We want real security and authorities who are actually held accountable.
