Tourism from the USA multiplies by 4 the Canadian and 20 to the third

The Ministry of Tourism of Mexico reported that, during the first semester of 2023, 10 million 843 thousand international tourists arrived by air, which is equivalent to 5.7% more than that registered in the same period of 2022. Travelers from the United States, Canada and Colombia are the ones that most visited Mexico. 

The head of the Sectur, Miguel Torruco Marqués, highlighted that, according to information from the Immigration Policy-Registry and Identity Unit of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), the American, Canadian and Colombian tourists who arrived by air in Mexico from January to June 2023 were a total of 8 million 330 thousand, 5% more than the same period of 2022 and 13.9% more than those who arrived in that period of 2019. 

In order, the tourists from the United States, Canada and Colombia who arrived in the first six months of the year were: 6 million 583 thousand; one million 385 thousand and 361 thousand. Of other nationalities, they added two million 514 thousand. Thus, the traveler from the USA surpass four times the second, which is the Canadian, and some twenty times the third, which is the Colombian. 

Torruco Marqués, specified that, in the first half of 2023, the international airports that added the most arrivals were those of Cancun, Mexico City and Los Cabos, to reach 8 million 75 thousand international tourists; 1.9% above those who arrived in that interval in 2022. Of the grand total, the Cancun airport received 4 million 835 thousand international tourists; the AICM had a reception of one million 983 thousand and one million 257 thousand international tourists arrived in Los Cabos.
