A police reporter was shot early this morning as he entered his home, returning from covering a story on unlawful deprivation of liberty in Supermanzana 94.
The communications expert known as Reily Polanco, “El Pecas,” stated that upon arriving at his home with his partner, he noticed some men on a motorcycle. He quickly entered and closed the gate, when suddenly, without saying a word, they attacked him with gunfire.
Although he managed to take cover inside his house, he was shot twice, one in the ankle and another below the knee, in his right leg.
He said his partner called 911, and he was treated by paramedics who took him to a hospital, where he will undergo surgery, without providing further details.
Pecas stated that this was not an isolated case, as he has been shot at on other occasions while carrying out his journalistic work. One incident occurred in the Valle Verde neighborhood, where he went with another fellow reporter.
Regarding the issue, at the weekly security cabinet conference, state prosecutor Raciel López Salazar stated only that investigations have been initiated to clarify the incident.
