Starting next January, Aer Lingus will fly directly to Cancún from Dublin, reinforcing Quintana Roo’s leadership in tourism with increased air connectivity, announced the state’s governor, Mara Lezama Espinosa.

Through a statement from the Government of Quintana Roo, it was announced that the airline will connect three times a week to the Mexican Caribbean, offering Irish tourists another option to enjoy the natural and archaeological beauty, entertainment, culture, and gastronomy of the state’s 12 tourist destinations.

The governor said this represents a “new era of tourism.” “This new air service will operate beginning January 6, and with this route, the potential for travelers from all over Europe and the United Kingdom to connect with Quintana Roo is opening up,” said Lezama Espinosa.

The state governor took the opportunity to promote the Maya Train, as European travelers arriving on this new flight will be able to enjoy magnificent experiences at the train’s 12 stations.

During the announcement, the governor mentioned that Quintana Roo is also home to Maya culture, roots, and traditions, such as the cuisine of its traditional cooks, the embroidery of our artisans, and the archaeological wealth with impressive sites like the recently opened Ichkabal archaeological site.

“In this new way of governing and within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Ireland, we, the government and the private sector, are joining hands to ensure that shared prosperity continues to reach your home, because in this humanist government with a feminist heart, no one is left behind and no one is left out,” she emphasized.
