The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office (FGE) revealed the discovery of an alleged human trafficking ring for sexual exploitation, operating out of a high school in Cancún’s Supermanzana 64 neighborhood. According to the investigation, a student convinced her classmates to offer escort services in exchange for money and gifts.
According to authorities, the student handed her classmates over to a woman identified as Elizabeth Shekina “N,” who allegedly coordinated transportation, contact, and meeting with clients at motels.
For each meeting, the minors received between 2,500 and 3,000 pesos, along with gifts such as cell phones and other items, taking advantage of their vulnerable situation, while the recruiting student received a 500-peso commission.
The case was uncovered thanks to the “Prevention through Education” program implemented by the Attorney General’s Office in the state’s schools.
It was reported that following the complaint, a supervisory judge issued an arrest warrant for Elizabeth Shekina “N.” She was detained and placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The Prosecutor’s Office reported that, as part of the initial investigation, two adolescent victims of this network were rescued. They are now receiving specialized support and care.
