These are the new ‘wonders’ of Cancun and Mérida that you can visit

New Tulum airport

The new Tulum airport is also one of the most anticipated projects in the southeast. Its inauguration is scheduled for December 1.

This work will go hand in hand with the Mayan Train since it will even have a ‘transfer’ and will have a station in the airport complex.

Meanwhile, the concept of the Tulum Airport station is an “architectural fabric of organic shape with wide openings in order to cause cross ventilation,” explains the Government. It was designed under the principle of sustainability.

The sketch indicates that it will have a lattice roof that intuitively guides users towards the center of the station.

In January, the Government reported that the executive project of the Chichén Itzá site museum was completed.

This site “has the purpose of offering information and an accessible interpretation of the archaeological zone”, according to the Government.

More than 800 pieces will be exhibited in the new Chichén Itzá site museum, all of them from the place. Some of them will be exhibited for the first time, and others will return to their place of origin.

In September, the opening of the new area in the archaeological zone of Chichén Itzá took place. This is Chichén Viejo or initial series.

Mayan Train Hotels in Tulum and Chichén Itzá

According to the National Fund for Tourism Promotion (Fonatur), six hotels are being built along the Mayan Train near the archaeological zones, such as Tulum and Chichén Itzá.

According to the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), until the beginning of October 2023, progress in the works of the Tulum hotel is 15.2 percent. In addition, more than 5 thousand trees are being planted.
