In August, the new Escárcega-Tulum section of the Mayan Train will be inaugurated: AMLO

In August, a new section of the Tren Maya route from Escárcega to Tulum will be inaugurated, and between September 7th and 8th, the entire circuit of this project will be completed, as announced by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Currently, 16 trains are operational, but it is expected that by the end of his term, there will be 30 trains in operation.

During his conference, he provided an overview of his tour of the southeast with his successor, Claudia Sheinbaum, during which the progress of the Tren Maya was a central topic. He emphasized that all information about ongoing works and projects is being shared with the virtual president.

The transition will be smooth and well-informed, ensuring that Sheinbaum has all the relevant information regarding budget allocations, projects to be completed, and those still pending. Joint tours have been beneficial for Sheinbaum to familiarize herself with ongoing construction and gain insights into their execution. The President also mentioned that this weekend, he will travel to Baja California and Sonora accompanied by his successor.

Looking ahead, there are several projects that may continue or be initiated in the next administration. Sheinbaum has already announced her commitment to continuing major public infrastructure projects, including the construction of one million homes across the country.

Regarding the Tren Maya, Alston will soon begin delivering trains suitable for long journeys, complete with restaurants and sleeping accommodations. At its peak, the Tren Maya is expected to operate with 40 trains.

This ambitious project is poised to boost tourism in the region, not only focusing on beaches but also incorporating archaeological sites, natural reserves, and other attractions.
