Of the rescued women, 20 were Mexican, four were from Venezuela, and one was from Cuba.
Enrique Abelardo ‘N’, the alleged leader of a human trafficking criminal group, was arrested during operations at five bars in Playa del Carmen, where 25 Mexican and foreign women were rescued.
In a statement, the State Attorney General’s Office detailed that through the efforts of the Investigation Police, in collaboration with the National Guard and the International Organization O. U. R. Rescue, 25 potential victims of labor and sexual exploitation were rescued.
During the execution of judicial orders, agents managed to apprehend a male individual identified as Enrique Abelardo ‘N’, who is the alleged coordinator of the raided establishments, including one more.
The arrest occurred when the suspect attempted to flee upon realizing the unexpected presence of agents in one of the bars. However, he was apprehended and brought before the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Initial investigations indicate that the detained individual was one of the leaders of the structure dedicated to human trafficking, specifically in the areas of sexual and labor exploitation. He was responsible for supervising the bars.
Regarding the victims, two operations were carried out in the Centro neighborhood, resulting in the rescue of seven women. In the establishment located on the Cancún-Tulum federal highway in the Ejidal neighborhood, 12 women were rescued.
Additionally, in another establishment in the same neighborhood, three women were rescued, and three more were rescued in an adjacent location.
Of the 25 women, 20 are Mexican, four are from Venezuela, and one is from Cuba. All of them underwent medical certification and provided statements to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. It is worth noting that these search warrants were related to the rescue of 17 Argentine women from a bar in the municipality of Solidaridad on May 17 of this year.
