Governor Mara Lezama kicked off the event and highlighted the tourism and sports promotion at this event held as part of the celebrations for the 54th anniversary of Cancún.
Cancún.- With the participation of over 1,500 athletes from 6 countries, the Astri Cancún Triathlon 2024 was successfully held against the backdrop of the Caribbean Sea, where Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa started this international competition as part of the activities for the 54th anniversary of the city. Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa was invited to provide words of encouragement and motivation to the competitors during the triathlon’s starting signal, an event that took place for the second consecutive year in various categories and began at 6:00 in the morning.
“This competition undoubtedly puts Cancún in the international sports showcase. The Astri Cancún Triathlon 2024 allows us to show the world that Cancún is consolidating itself as a top destination for high-performance sports,” said the Executive’s head.
“Congratulations to all the participants, and also to the families for traveling from afar to support the competitors, and thank you for being part of Cancún’s 54 years,” added Governor Mara Lezama.
She also supported the organization of the triathlon, which undoubtedly diversifies the destination’s offer through sports tourism as part of the New Era of Tourism in the Mexican Caribbean, which promotes the 12 destinations with new experiences in a sustainable and sustainable way and translates success into shared prosperity.
This second edition of the Cancún Triathlon is a special part of the celebrations for the 54th Anniversary of the foundation of Cancún, the jewel of the Mexican Caribbean, organized by the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council, the municipality of Benito Juárez, and Asdeporte.
