Volaris, the low-cost airline that operates in Mexico, the United States, Central, and South America, received its 100th aircraft at the Guadalajara International Airport.

The Airbus A320neo, registration XA-VSH, will serve the Bajío-Tijuana and Cancun Tijuana routes, increasing frequencies by 22 and 33 percent, respectively. With the arrival of the 100 aircraft, Volaris now has more than 9,500 seats flying daily on its 186 routes.

“This fact is historic, especially since it happens one year after the greatest crisis in aviation, which grounded 90 percent of the fleet. Today, our objective of long-term investment in the country and its economic development is strengthened with the vision of continuing to lead domestic and international connectivity, ”said Enrique Beltranena, executive president and CEO of Volaris.

From January to November alone, the number one airline in Mexico carried 21.7 million passengers, placing its recovery levels above those of 2019, at around 24 percent.

Recently Volaris also announced the purchase order for 39 Airbus A321 NEO aircraft and negotiated 20 conversions from its current order to this same model to keep it’s fleet young, through the replacement of equipment with better technology. This will allow you to ensure long-term sustainable growth, by improving efficiency and fuel savings, as well as reducing polluting emissions.

“It is great pride that Volaris operates its 100th aircraft. This confirms that the A320 family is the most popular single-aisle model in the world, as well as the best aircraft to continue leading the growth of Mexican aviation. The A320neo Family has a performance of up to 30% less fuel consumption, which goes hand in hand with Volaris’ growth and sustainability objectives, ”said Arturo Barreira, President of Airbus for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Volaris has one of the youngest fleets on the continent, with an average age of 5.3 years. 44 percent belong to the NEO family: 6 A319, 77 A320 (37 NEO), and 17 A321 (7 NEO), and in 2023 more than 50 percent of the aircraft will be of this model.

“Our first 100 aircraft represent the effort to achieve recovery, resilience, and market leadership. They are also an incentive to continue uniting people and destinations in a sustainable way, always looking for the good of the communities where we operate ”, concluded Beltranena.

As part of its celebration, Volaris launched the “Put your name on an extraordinary plane” campaign, with which it searches for the 100 most original names to wear one of its aircraft ( ponletunombreaunavionvolaris.com ). Similarly, from December 8 to 10, 2021, the airline will have fares from $ 100 pesos on domestic flights and from $ 100 on international trips at  volaris.com.
