A couple of American tourists died in their Airbn room in the Holistika neighborhood of Tulum.

According to local media, James Edward Mooney, 23, from Denver, Colorado, found his sister and friend lying next to the bed.

The young tourist said that the day before, around 11:00 p.m., both he and his sister Shannon Marie Vits, 24, from Colorado and his friend Christopher Dean Martinez, 25, went to sleep. However, in the morning he saw the couple lying on the floor and with a purple face, so he asked for help.

Paramedics moved to the site and confirmed the death of Shannon and Christopher, allegedly from an overdose of illicit substances.

Personnel from the Attorney General’s Office of Quintana Roo moved to the site to start the investigations into the death of the couple of tourists.
