Under a security and humanitarian protocol, two planes landed this afternoon at the “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” International Airport, the first arrival from Arizona, USA, carrying more than 155 repatriated Mexicans.

According to official information, the group consisted of 12 women—two of them accompanied by minors—and 143 men. Upon arrival, they were received on the tarmac by authorities from all three levels of government, including the National Guard, the National Migration Institute (INM), and representatives of the State Government.

After disembarking, a comprehensive care plan was activated, including immediate medical services, the installation of a vaccination station, and specialized assistance for children and adolescents through Child Protection Officers. Each Mexican citizen also received food and was enrolled in the appropriate referral processes.

This arrival marks a turning point for the Tulum airport. Conceived as an engine for international tourism, the Tulum International Airport (AITulum) has also begun operating as a reception point for repatriated Mexicans, integrating into the national return network from the United States.

This first flight opens a new dynamic for the region, where tourism infrastructure now coexists with social and humanitarian functions, in a context that could intensify in the coming months as migration policies evolve along the northern border.
