The new Tulum airport has allowed for an increase in hotel occupancy, sparking interest among more national and international companies to establish themselves in the state and become suppliers for this vast hospitality industry.

This was indicated by Marco Vidal Pérez, a member of the Exphotel Organizing Committee, during a press conference where details of this event were shared. It will take place from June 11 to 13 at the Cancún Center.

In this regard, Vidal Pérez highlighted that this increase in suppliers has led to a 10% increase in the number of exhibitors compared to last year, reaching more than 550.

He also emphasized that, of this total number of participants, 45% are new companies coming from different parts of the country, as well as from the United States, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, China, Switzerland, and Cuba.

“This is very important for all buyers in the hospitality sector; the growth that Mexico, and especially Quintana Roo, has experienced in tourism is impressive,” he added.

During the three days of the expo, more than 28,000 products and services will be presented, creating a large showcase for contact with all that supply, where the attendance of more than 7,500 buyers is expected, and approximately an economic impact of more than 10 million dollars (estimated from previous sales generated according to exhibitor figures).

The organizer pointed out that to date, they have more than 4,000 pre-registered attendees, of which 66% are hoteliers, 27% are restaurateurs, and 7% are from other commercial sectors.

Juan Pablo Cornejo López, also a member of the Organizing Committee, indicated that the success of this event is based on its ability to generate wealth through direct contact between entrepreneurs.

Despite the presence of digital platforms for selling products, he commented that people prefer to create a bond with their suppliers, something that happens at Exphotel, so they do not rule out that its edition could expand to other regions.

“People like to meet and relate to those they buy from and establish commercial, social, and trust links,” he said.

During the expo, the renowned “La Veste d’Or du Chef 2023” will also take place, organized by the Les Toques Blanches Continent of the Americas association, the Cancún Sommeliers Circle, and the participation of Canirac Cancún.
