Playa del Carmen Workers Join National Protest

159

About 25 workers from the Avasa car rental company in Playa del Carmen ─ which includes Hertz, Thrifty, Firefly, and Dollar ─ stopped working on Tuesday morning because they were offered fewer profits compared to last year, which amounted to 45,000 pesos at that time.

They assure that the protest is not exclusive to Playa del Carmen, as it was replicated in other cities of the country for the same reason.

They said that the company offers agreements, but only verbally, and that they do not agree with those terms, so they will remain on strike until there is a written solution.

The dissatisfied workers used placards that they placed on the windshields of some vehicles; others carried them in their hands to demand fair payment of profits from the company.
