Tourists are dragged away in Playa del Carmen by restaurant staff

Regardless of the fact that since October 2020 there has been a presidential decree that establishes free movement on the beaches of the Mexican Republic, the staff of the Aranza Restaurant, which is located in the town of Xpu-Ha, south of the municipality of Solidaridad, has dedicated to taking out tourists who come to sunbathe.

In this sense, Rosy Rojas, a tourist from Guadalajara, reported the situation on her social networks and therefore she preferred to attend the popular beach resort of Playa 72 in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood.

“We will go to Colosio beach with our emotional support dog, we hope we don’t have any problems, like the day before yesterday in Xpu-Ha where we paid for access to the beach and they told us that we would have no problems, that we just couldn’t be in the beach club,” he explained, “but when we got to the beach we tried to put ourselves in a space where there was no one, away from beach clubs and they chased us away, they told us to go to the other side, we obeyed and walked to the other side , we passed the clubs and stood between some palm trees. But they also ran us away, in a very aggressive way.”

Not only this, but next to Rosy and her companion, there were some foreign tourists with their two little dogs and they also chased them away, “they were elderly people and they hit them.”

“One of the guys who chased us seemed drugged, but it was three of them who beat up the foreign adults. Those filthy guys had gray shirts with the Costa Arena Maya logo. They tried to take their dogs away from them, shouting that they would throw them into the sea.” and that they would talk to the pound and when one of the gentlemen started recording them, they hit him again and stole his cell phone,” said the visitor.

It is not an isolated incident and it is not a question that they took their pets, since another complaint was registered in which residents of Mariona de Puerto Aventuras were the victims.

René, the resident who was a witness, reported these events to the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (Profepa), when two women over 60 years of age went to the same beach with their chairs, with soft drinks and sandwiches, without bringing alcohol, and were removed by six private security guards in charge of the beach club.

The argument was that it was a private space when they were three meters from the beach water on the sand and obviously in a public area.

According to René, the manager in charge of this beach club said that they had been paid a special permit to use that beach and that it was now private; The witnesses asked them to show the papers proving what they said and they refused, abusively evicting the two ladies.

Due to the above, comments on social networks are intended for the authorities to take action on the matter and act.

We must not forget the case of the Mamita’s beach club, where they also removed bathers from the area and motivated citizens to demonstrate to make it clear that the beaches are public.
