Thrilling AsTri Cancún 2025 Triathlon Kicks Off, Attracts Over a Thousand Competitors from Six Countries

The highly anticipated AsTri Cancún 2025 triathlon got off to an electrifying start with more than a thousand participants hailing from six countries, including Mexico, the United States, Canada, Argentina, Chile, and Cuba. This impressive turnout marked the third edition of the event, which is being held in celebration of Cancun’s 55th anniversary.

The triathlon, which promises to be an unforgettable experience for all involved, was graced by the presence of esteemed guests including Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta, and Verónica Lezama Espinosa, representing the Quintana Roo DIF (National Institute of International Development).

In a heartwarming address to the athletes, Governor Lezama emphasized the importance of promoting sports as a key aspect of a healthy lifestyle. She encouraged everyone to participate in sports without age barriers, setting an example for future generations.

One notable figure who attended this event is Ricardo González, the Mexican athlete who made history at the 1995 Cancun Triathlon World Championships by securing a remarkable fifth place finish.

The triathletes competed across various categories including Elite, Sprint, Olympic, 3kids, Junior, Men’s Super Sprint, WomanUp, Duathlon, and Relay. The event started at Playa Langosta with the finish line situated at the iconic monumental flagpole.
