After a long wait, the buses will be officially presented in the city, thus initiating the change in the public transportation system.

Just hours before the presentation of the new public transport units in Cancún, some buses have been seen in motion with a particular labeling that alludes to the colors of the city’s sunsets, the sea, and the fauna that inhabits this renowned destination.

Some of the new units have been seen very close to the base of region 92 of the Autocar company, and this labeling was chosen for its brighter colors than the first proposal, as pointed out at the time by the municipal president Ana Patricia Peralta.

In practically 24 hours, the new buses that will circulate in the well-known new Kabah Corridor will be officially presented, which will include four routes known to the hotel zone, including: la Joya, Villas del Mar, Nichupté, and Rehollada.

The colors used in these new buses are orange and pastel shades in this tone that contrasts with grays and blues and has decorations of certain animals from the region such as fish, iguanas, dolphins, and even people, and the Cancún logo in this sense are various car designs with the same color palette as a base.

With the introduction of these new buses that have already touched the streets of Cancún, a transformation will begin in the public transport system in which the transfer system will be used, meaning different buses can be taken for the same price, this will take time, but the first step will be to start with the Kabah Corridor.

On the other hand, the Autocar company is in search of drivers for the new units, as there is a plan in which there will be 180 new units that will need drivers to move them, this in the short term.

This new project will also include infrastructure such as official stops, as well as a new payment system that will include rechargeable cards, as well as digital payment through cell phones, all under a gradual process so that people can get used to this necessary transition from cash to digital payment.

The time it will take to make these changes is not defined, the three companies (Maya Caribe, Turicun, and Autocar) that make up the Integral Public Transport System, continue to work hard to deliver results, so they indicated it may take six months or up to a year to see the change and include the transfer.

“For the moment it remains as it is, right now we are working with the issue of the Hotel Zone, later the issue will be brought up along with the government for the urban area, but in stages. What we will seek is to work in coordination to have an influx and avoid congestion, that there are no bottlenecks due to traffic,” commented at the time, the general manager of Maya Caribe, Jorge Catzín.
