In a virtual press conference, the activist highlighted that there was an increase of 32.3 percent in the number of detainees related to kidnappings because in August 135 people were arrested for this crime while in July 102 alleged perpetrators were arrested.
The municipalities with the highest incidence in number of kidnappings, are: Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo with 60 kidnappings; Ecatepec, State of Mexico, with 52; Reynosa, Tamaulipas with 50; Iztapalapa, Mexico City; Xalapa, Veracruz with 47; Juárez, Chihuahua, Uruapan, Michoacán and Córdoba, Veracruz, with 46 kidnappings each.
In the ranking of states with the highest number of kidnappings, from December 2018 to August 2021, Veracruz is the first place for this crime with 47 kidnappings in Xalapa; Córdoba with 46; Coatzacoalcos 43; Veracruz with 39 and Martínez de la Torre with 36.
