Quintana Roo is set to enhance its international connectivity with the introduction of direct flights from Poland to Cancun, starting in December 2024. This new route is a collaboration between the operator Rainbow and LOT Polish Airlines, one of Europe’s most prestigious airlines.

New Flight Routes

Rainbow will offer weekly flights from Warsaw to Cancun on Sundays and from Katowice to Cancun on Thursdays, operated by LOT Polish Airlines’ modern 787 Dreamliner. This new route will not only facilitate the arrival of Polish tourists but also establish a key air bridge between two significant tourist markets, strengthening the position of Mexico and Quintana Roo as world-class destinations.

Bernardo Cueto Riestra, head of the State Secretariat of Tourism (SEDETUR), emphasized that this initiative aligns with the New Era of Tourism led by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa. The Government of Quintana Roo is committed to sustainable growth and the diversification of tourism in the state. This new international connection reaffirms their ongoing efforts to increase connectivity with more destinations in Europe and other parts of the world.

Economic Impact

These initiatives are crucial for consolidating Quintana Roo as an attractive destination for international tourists, contributing to the shared prosperity of the people of Quintana Roo and the workers in the tourism industry. “Air connectivity is essential for the development of our state and to continue strengthening tourism, which is one of the main sources of employment and well-being for Quintana Roo families. We applaud the efforts of Rainbow and LOT Polish Airlines, and we are committed to continue working to open new routes that expand growth opportunities for all,” said Cueto Riestra.

The launch of these direct flights underscores the importance of maintaining strong international relations and promoting projects that attract tourists from strategic markets. This initiative fosters economic prosperity not only in tourist destinations but also throughout the entire tourism value chain, benefiting hotels, restaurants, tourist services, businesses, and the community in general.
