In the government of the citizens, we will propose to the City Council a minimum rate for land use and construction licenses so that families can build or expand a home and make the constitutional right of citizens to have an estate a reality. This was expressed by the candidate for municipal president of Movimiento Ciudadano, Jorge Portilla Mánica, during a visit he made house by house in the Guerra de Castas subdivision.

“Building a house, creating a family estate, is a luxury,” affirmed Portilla Mánica. “We are going to end corruption in urban development.”

During his tour, neighbors expressed their concern about the high rates imposed by the Urban Development department. “You know that we know you and that we want you to be our president. But, engineer, for making a 3-meter-long wall, they ask us in urban development for 120 thousand pesos and a 5 by 5 sheet roof up to 170 thousand pesos, it’s too much,” they said.

Portilla Mánica committed to ending corruption in Urban Development, pointing out that the high rates are imposed to force citizens to pay under the table. “It is important that this movement to save Tulum continues to grow, so that the voice of the citizens becomes government it is necessary to be united, so that together we build the greatness of Tulum from the victory that we will achieve next June 2,” he pointed out.

The Movimiento Ciudadano standard-bearer affirmed that without a tariff in Tulum, building a house becomes a luxury. “That cannot be, we all have the right to forge an estate for our children. In the humanist and citizen government, we will ask the City Council to approve a rate of 3 thousand pesos for extensions.”

Portilla Mánica also mentioned that they will seek to agree with the College of Engineers and Architects to help sign the construction projects, thus reducing costs so that families live better and in conditions of well-being.
