Mexicos Tourism Expo in Merida Yucatan postponed until 2021

Through a virtual statement via YouTube the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, reported that the 2020 version of the Tourism Tianguis of Mexico will be digital in September this year, postponing the face-to-face event from March 21 to 24, 2021 in the city of Merida.

The Governor of Yucatan, Mauricio Vila Dosal, and the Secretary of Tourism Promotion of the state of Yucatan, Michelle Fridman, were also virtually present in the statement.

The new stage of the first Digital Tourism Tianguis will be in September. The federal official acknowledged that we are facing an unprecedented situation in our modern history with the crisis generated by the presence of Covid-19.

“In this sense and as a result of a long and careful process of analysis by the Organizing Committee and a consensus with leaders and actors in the tourism industry, today we announce that the 45th edition of the Tourist Tianguis evolves into a better scenario to deal with the new reality imposed on us by the global crisis of the Covid-19, becomes an event that will take an important turn with a digital component and a face-to-face component, to be held on different dates, ”said Torruco Marqués.

The updating of the Tourist Tianguis format aims to meet these six objectives:

  1. The health care of all Mexicans and participants in the Tourist Tianguis.
  2. The prompt revival of tourism in our country.
  3. Support and empathy with a financially affected industry.
  4. The innovation of this fair, in accordance with the latest trends in the Meetings segment.
  5. To be an inclusive Tourist Tianguis, for the first time in all its editions.
  6. The continuity of an event that belongs to all of us and that we must preserve as the great institution that is and that represents us.

The Secretary of Tourism made a special recognition to the Yucatan government for the effort and investment it has dedicated to the organization of the Tourist Tianguis; as well as the Governor of Guerrero, Héctor Astudillo, “for his nobility, support, sensitivity and solidarity in the face of this situation that the tourism sector in Mexico is experiencing.”

For his part, the Governor of Yucatan, Mauricio Vila, commented that with this new digital format “it will be a better Tianguis with a new profile of high innovation, which will allow us to relaunch in a more competitive and strategic way in the new scenarios of the world economy and, in particular, of the great global tourism industry in these new times ”.

“The Tianguis 360 aims to prevent the reactivation and start-up of this very strategic industry from being postponed so that in September of this year we send a strong message to Mexico and to the whole world that we take up our agenda and that we will promote the industry tourism with greater strength, so that in March 2021 we give continuity to the new plans and strategies when we meet again in Yucatan with the face-to-face version of our Tianguis, ”explained the state president.

In other information that the Secretary of Tourism also issued, he reported that Tianguis Pueblos Mágicos will be held in the city of San Luis Potosí from November 26 to 29, trying to consolidate it as a driving force for internal tourism and the reactivation of the industry.

This meeting seeks to promote tour packages of the 121 Magical Towns of the country, consolidating it as a driving force for internal tourism and the reactivation of the tourist value chain, since it is expected that road trips to nearby places will be the first to travelers will seek.

In today’s society, there is an expansive worldwide growth of the middle class, one that can not afford to travel constantly but takes into account that one-third of its income can be allowed to invest in non-basic goods, such as travel and vacation.

Mexicos proximity to Canada and the United States places the country in prime position to receive travelers and retirees post COVID-19 and will be ready to receive them
