Mexico is the most visited country in Latin America

According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and despite the disappearance of the Tourism Promotion Council (CPTM), Mexico was the most visited country in Latin America in 2019 and ranked as the seventh tourist destination with more visitors in the world. The arrival of international tourists to the country during January-October 2019 had an increase of 8.5% compared to 2018.

Globally (tourists traveling from one country to another country), the UNWTO estimated that in 2020 there would be 1.4 billion annual international tourist arrivals. However, this figure was already reached in 2018.

It is expected to reach 1.8 billion in 2030, although it could be earlier if the current growth rate continues.

Worldwide the most visited country with 89 million visitors is France; followed by Spain with 83 million visitors and the United States with 80 million visitors, ahead of China, Italy, Turkey, Mexico, Germany, Thailand, and Great Britain.

The online services comparator elMejorTrato.com said in this regard that there are 5 the most prominent causes in the report for which there are more and more travelers in the world: technological advances, the growing middle class in emerging economies, new business models, costs more affordable travel and simplification of the visa regime. 

At the level of the Americas, according to the “Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index” (ICVT) published by the private agency, Mexico once again stands out as a competitive tourist destination, followed by Brazil, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic.

According to the FEM, Mexico stands out for its natural attractions, extensive wildlife, and wildlife, in addition to its many protected sites.
