With the participation of around 400 athletes and Wind Surf lovers, the Mayan Wind Fest 2025 began at the Puerto Cancun Beach Club from January 16 to 19, where athletes from 16 countries participate in this competition that will seek at all costs to be the best in this difficult discipline.
Quintana Roo participates in this event with 44 athletes, in addition to national representatives from 5 states of the Mexican Republic, this edition is part of the second stage of regattas of the 4 that make up the national Optimist 2025 circuit.
Likewise, this sporting event is a selective for the 2025 Asunción Youth Pan American Games, in the ILCA, IQFOIL and Formula KITE modalities.
During the official inauguration, representing the Municipal President, Ana Paty Peralta, the General Secretary of the City Council, Pablo Gutiérrez Fernández, indicated that “by joining forces we will continue to transform the destination into a prosperous city, which is positioned and stands out in sports tourism, which reflects worldwide a range of opportunities to diversify the attractions and activities that we have to offer.”
It should be noted that the activities will begin this Friday the 17th, but could be rescheduled for Saturday and Sunday, according to weather conditions.
On the podium were the president of the Quintana Roo Sports Commission, Jacobo Arzate Hop; the Sports Director of Mayan Wind Fest 2025, Ana Paula Rión; of Sabino Producciones, Ernesto Rivas Butcher; the vice president of World Sailing, Beatriz Gonzáles Luna and of Puerto Cancún, Javier Barros, who welcomed the participants.
