LP Gas truck explosion kills at least 14 on Tepic-Guadalajara highway (video)

A double trailer pipe that transported LP gas with the company name Gómez Morín Torres, exploded this Monday, at kilometer 106 of the Tepic-Guadalajara highway, between Ixtlán del Río and the junction to Chapalilla.

The shock wave destroyed several vehicles that were circulating at that time, which it threw several meters away.

None of the fatalities have been identified yet, some of them were completely charred inside the vehicles, such as the driver of the pipe.

Some burned people have been transferred to hospitals in Tepic.

The Secretary of Citizen Security in Nayarit, Jorge Benito Rodríguez Martínez reported that there were two explosions, the first when the pipe overturned and hit two vehicles and, later, when the firefighters were working to suffocate the fire, a second explosion occurred that injured two elements, one of them with second-degree burns to the left hand, and the other with an impact of material from the pipe, who are out of danger.

Regarding the preliminary investigations, it is known that the trailer circulated with direction to Guadalajara and after losing control, it ended up overturning in the middle of the highway and later the explosion occurred.

According to the first reports, it is indicated that the double trailer pipe, ran out of brakes and took several vehicles.

For its part, the company Transporte Gas Sol regretted the incident, stating that it is waiting to hear the expert opinion by the authorities and thus determine the cause of the incident.

In addition, he assured that both the staff and the directors of the company will be supporting the families of the victims.

5 injured left a second accident on the same highway

Unofficially, in social networks it is reported that in the maneuvering area due to the closure of lanes due to the explosion in Tepic-Guadalajara, a second vehicle accident was registered in which at least 5 more vehicles were involved, leaving a balance of at less 4 injured.
