Los Cabos almost doubles Cancun and Riviera Maya in average room rates

Los Cabos has the highest ADR of the beach tourist destinations in Mexico with a rate of $ 315 that almost doubles that of Playa del Carmen and Cancun that hold second and third place respectively, with an average rate of $ 195.70 and $ 185.70, according to February of the latest Horwath HTL report on the Mexican tourism market.

Los Cabos and Vallarta lead the averages with occupations of 55.3 percent and 45.5 percent respectively, while Cancun remains at 43.9 percent.

The Pacific coast has surpassed the Mexican Caribbean in hotel occupancy during the week of November 9-15. The data released by Datatur confirm that Los Cabos and Vallarta lead the averages with occupations of 55.3 percent and 45.5 percent respectively, while Cancun remains at 43.9 percent.

The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco, has echoed the statistics on his Twitter account ensuring that the preliminary hotel occupancy percentage for the week of November 9 to 15 shows an average occupancy of 36 percent in 12 destinations selected by Datatur, 3.9 additional percentage points compared to the previous week.

However, despite these data, the destination par excellence in the Mexican Caribbean is the one that receives the highest volume of international passengers at its airport (mostly from the US and Canada), above that of Mexico City, as reported by REPORTUR .mx 

The report establishes that during the period January-September 2020, the airports that received the highest number of foreign visitors in Mexico were, according to their nationality: Cancun (2,331,774), Mexico City (1,236,185), Los Cabos (593,325), Puerto Vallarta (550,155), Guadalajara (411,791), Cozumel (74,874), Monterrey (72,376) and Mazatlán (59,345).

Hotel forecasts indicate that by the end of the year, Cancun will be able to reach a full house in its hotel establishments in the event that the epidemiological traffic light turns green and allows them a 100 percent occupancy, which currently stands at 60 percent
