The Isla Mujeres City Council approved in a council meeting the transfer of a property under lease to the Potable Water and Sewerage Commission (CAPA) for the purpose of building the first drinking water demineralization plant in the island area of the municipality.
The transfer of the property was led by Mayor Atenea, along with the following members of the Isla Mujeres City Council: José Inés Aguilar, Municipal Trustee; Isla del Mar Magaña, First Councilor; Bella Mar Garrido, Second Councilor; Imperia Opalina Flores, Third Councilor; Jesús Orlando Silva, Fourth Councilor; Margarita Concepción Briceño, Fifth Councilor; among others.
The project, which will be built and operated by Aguakan, represents an investment of more than 33 million pesos and will incorporate reverse osmosis technology, which will produce safe, clean, and sufficient drinking water to serve both the local population and visitors.
