It’s no secret that Mexico has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, but those in Tulum stand out for their stunning white sands.

The Mexican Caribbean is home to beautiful and paradisiacal destinations, but the beaches of Tulum, Quintana Roo, are the crown jewel for having the whitest sands in the world.

The beaches of Tulum, located in the heart of the Riviera Maya, have become a global tourist reference thanks to their sand, recognized as the whitest on the planet.

An analysis conducted by the travel portal Travel + Leisure, in collaboration with CV Villas, positions Tulum as the destination with the whitest sands in the world.

The study, based on color theory, examined unedited images from Google Maps of more than 200 beaches worldwide.

By analyzing the RGB (red, green, and blue) color values, it measured how close these beaches were to perfect white (RGB = 255, 255, 255). Tulum, with its six miles of pristine coastline, topped the list.

What makes Tulum special?

Tulum not only offers the whitest sand but also a unique combination of natural beauty and history. This destination is ideal for both those looking to relax and adventurers.

From water sports like diving and snorkeling in its crystal-clear waters to exploring cenotes like the Gran Cenote or Cenote Dos Ojos, Tulum offers a comprehensive experience.

Although Tulum leads the list, the study also includes dream beaches around the world. In second place is Anse Source d’Argent in the Seychelles, famous for its crystal-clear waters and giant granite rocks.

In third place is Marmari, on the Greek island of Kos, characterized by its serenity and the freshness of the Aegean Sea.

Beaches with white sands in Mexico

While Tulum is the star, Mexico has other white sand beaches that stand out globally. In the Yucatán region, Celestún and El Cuyo are examples of the country’s natural wealth.

Playa Balandra, in Baja California Sur, is another must-visit destination, famous for its calm and shallow waters, ideal for beginner swimmers.

On the other hand, Isla Blanca, near Isla Mujeres, offers an almost virgin environment, perfect for disconnecting and enjoying tranquility.
