After the rise of the Dominican Republic in the Colombian market, the Panamanian airline Copa would be considering supporting the destinations of Quintana Roo, with a new route from Colombia to the Tulum airport with four weekly frequencies.

The Mexican tourism sector is concerned about the decline in the arrival of Colombian tourists to Cancun due to the migratory mistreatment they have received upon arrival and the progress of the Dominican Republic in this market, so the businessmen are looking for different alternatives to regain the confidence of the Colombian tourists.

Jesús Almaguer, president of the Cancun Hotel Association, pointed out that Mexico has lost two-thirds of the Colombian market and has ceded it to the Dominican Republic, so they worked at Anato with tour operators, wholesalers and travel agents a new format so that Colombians can have the entry requirements to the Aztec country and make their access easier.

On the other hand, David Collado, Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, told the press during the Vitrina that “Dominicana wants to continue growing, the idea is to reach about 350 thousand Colombian tourists in the year 2024, in 2023 306 thousand Colombians arrived to visit our country, it has become the third most important market, surpassing Germany, France, England, Spain, which were our traditional markets”, he said.

As reported by REPORTUR, the hoteliers of Quintana Roo arrived at the Anato Tourist Showcase with a plan to clean up the image damaged by the Migration of Mexico by the rejections and mistreatment of the Colombians at the Cancun Airport.
