Passenger traffic at Mexican airports showed moderate growth during May 2025. According to data from the country’s three main private airport groups—Asur, GAP, and OMA—the total volume of passengers carried reached 10.2 million, representing an annual increase of 1.8 percent.
This performance was driven by domestic traffic, which grew 3.5 percent, while international traffic fell 1.3 percent. Considering the international operations of the three groups, consolidated traffic reached 13.2 million passengers, equivalent to 1.2 percent annual growth.
OMA (Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte) recorded the best performance of the period, with a 6.9% increase in total traffic. Domestic traffic—which represents 86% of its total—grew 5.1%, while international traffic grew a solid 19.5%, despite its lower relative weight.
Meanwhile, Monterrey Airport, which handles more than half of the group’s traffic, was the main driver of growth, with increases of 16.1% in domestic flights and 27.0% in international flights.
Meanwhile, GAP (Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico) recorded total growth of 2.6%, supported by a 4.7% increase in domestic traffic. Airports such as Guadalajara (+1.1%), Tijuana (+1.5%), and Puerto Vallarta (+11.2%) drove national growth.
Meanwhile, Asur (Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste) had the weakest performance, with a 3.0% drop in total traffic, due to a 5.6% decrease in the international segment and a slight 0.4% drop in the domestic segment.
Asur reported an overall decrease of 2.2%. This decline was influenced by lower international demand, particularly from the United States, as well as a decline in interest in beach destinations due to their rising costs. Cancún Airport, the group’s main airport, registered a 4.2 percent contraction.
