Cancún records first monkeypox death in Quintana Roo; these are the symptoms

A 24-year-old woman died this Wednesday at the “Dr. Jesús Kumate Rodríguez” General Hospital in Cancún, Quintana Roo, following medical complications associated with monkeypox, also known as monkeypox.

According to the state Ministry of Health, the positive result for Mpox was confirmed after the State Public Health Laboratory analyzed clinical samples from the patient, who was originally from Playa del Carmen.

She was hospitalized for five days.

The woman remained hospitalized for five days until her condition worsened and she died of septic shock. However, health authorities ruled out any risk of contagion to medical staff and other patients and assured that the hospital is operating normally.

How many cases of monkeypox are there in Quintana Roo?

According to journalist Luis Hernández, six cases of monkeypox have been reported so far this year in the state, with four people discharged, one still under observation, and the last person who died.
