The government of Belize published a new order by which it authorizes the entry of travelers who present proof of vaccination against Covid-19, without the need to show a negative test.
For the Caribbean destination, the rapid vaccination campaign in the United States, its main source market for tourists, motivated this decision that will help the reactivation of tourist and economic activity in a safe and reliable way for visitors and residents.
With this measure, Belize joins the 12 nations in the world that allow vaccinated tourists to access their territories, information that is already available in the recent update of the Map of Travel Regulations of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The agency regulates the technical standards of international airlines, confirming that travelers who have already been vaccinated can board a flight to Belize without a proof document.
To enter the Caribbean country, the visitor is required to have already received the two full doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, at least two weeks before arrival.
In addition, tourists must download the free Open Health application and complete the required information, a maximum of 72 hours prior to their arrival in Belize. By completing this form, you will receive a personal QR code that you must present to the authorities at the airport upon arrival.
Tourists who wish to visit the destination but have not yet received the complete vaccine must meet the requirements imposed by the government previously, which may be to present the PCR test performed in their country of origin within 96 hours prior to the trip, to access to the airport express lane.
It is also possible to present the rapid antigen test within 48 hours of the trip. In the event that passengers do not present either of these two tests, it will be carried out at the airport at a cost of $ 50 and must be isolated in a hotel approved by the government until the results are available.
