Armed Attack in Tulum Bar, Quintana Roo, Leaves One Dead and Four Injured

The “Caribe Swing” bar was the scene of a shooting on Monday night.

Tulum, Quintana Roo. An armed attack inside the “Caribe Swing” bar, located between Centauro and Satélite streets in the tourist center of Tulum, Quintana Roo, left one person dead and four injured.

Elements of the Municipal Public Security and Citizen Protection Secretariat (SSPC) and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE) reported that the victims of the attack, which occurred on Monday night, had multiple gunshot wounds.

Next to the bar, they found the body of a man approximately 35 years old with gunshot wounds to the head and chest, along with six bullet casings scattered around the area.

While inside the establishment, they found the four injured people: two with gunshot wounds to the chest and two more with injuries to their hands and legs. Local authorities cordoned off the scene of the attack, and experts from the FGJE of Quintana Roo removed the body of the deceased person. However, no arrests have been made yet, but the causes are being investigated.

Tulum has been the scene of shootings and armed attacks between criminal groups in bars, restaurants, and nightclubs, which have affected innocent people and both national and foreign tourists. The injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
