The incident occurred on the afternoon of Friday, October 3rd, when it was reported that a person had once again been the victim of virtual kidnapping in the municipality of Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo.

Through a 911 call, employees of a fumigation company in Cancún reported that one of their coworkers had informed them that he was the victim of a crime and that some individuals were demanding 30,000 pesos as a ransom.

Following the report, authorities began searching for the person and, shortly after, were able to locate him thanks to tracking his cell phone’s GPS. Through tracking, they were able to locate the fumigation company’s truck driven by the victim of this virtual kidnapping, on the road leading from Cancún to Leona Vicario.

However, the person was not inside the vehicle. They continued searching until they found him in the town of Emiliano Zapata. There, the man told them that some individuals forced him to get out of the truck and continue on a dirt road.

Once located, this man from Cancún was taken into custody by authorities, while the vehicle was taken to the Benito Juárez Citizen Security facilities.

MORE CASES THROUGHOUT QUINTANA ROO

Cases of virtual kidnapping are increasing in Quintana Roo. In fact, just a few hours ago, another person had also been rescued in Cancún.

This time, the victim was a young man, who, after going missing for several hours, was finally found on the city streets while walking.

According to reports, the incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, October 1, when a young man was reported missing in the municipality of Benito Juárez. His family had received a call from some individuals stating that they had the person detained.

On the one hand, this family from Cancún received a call claiming their son had been kidnapped. The alleged kidnappers demanded a sum of money in exchange for the alleged victim’s release.

On the other hand, the young man had received another phone call in which the same criminals tricked him into leaving his home, sending him from one place to another so his parents couldn’t reach him, as the line was busy.

Once they were able to interview him, the young man reported that under threats, the individuals forced him to leave his home and go to a shopping center, while at the same time pressuring the family to hand over a sum of money for the “release” of the alleged kidnapped man.
