The gradual revival of tourist activity for American travelers sparked a rebound in searches, where Cancun is the first international destination in the Top 10, revealed Expedia.
As is expected to happen in all countries of the world, including Mexico, tourists will start with trips within their nations, so it is not surprising that the main destinations in the United States are the most popular.
However, knowing that Cancun is within the preferences of the American traveler opens up hope for the speedy recovery of the tourism sector in the Mexican Caribbean; because searches also show interest in visiting other destinations in Quintana Roo.
Expedia’s report shows that Cancun is in the fifth position among the destinations to which Americans will travel between July and December this year, which will also depend on the release of travel restrictions and air reconnection.
In descending order, the Top 10 destinations where Americans have sought travel are: Orlando, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Miami, Cancun, Maui, London, Los Angeles, Denver, and San Juan.
US travelers have also searched for lodging through Expedia. Here the relevant fact is that when looking at the Top 10 of international preferences for accommodation, the beach destinations of Mexico occupy the first five positions and the first three are precisely from the Mexican Caribbean.
The 10 most sought-after destinations for accommodation internationally by Americans are: Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Punta Cana, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios (Jamaica), Aruba and Maldives.
Although the main tourist destinations in Mexico have yet to define the reopening date for the activities, the Expedia report is a motivation to reinforce the health and quality protocols that will welcome a tourist eager to visit them.
