When Sylvester Stallone tried to buy Pedro Infante’s Harley-Davidson

In addition to Sylvester Stallone, another famous millionaire, but from Mexico, wanted to get the Harley-Davidson that belonged to Pedro Infante

All Harley-Davidson brand motorcycles have made history for their good design, durability, power, sound, and for being the preferred vehicle of hundreds of personalities around the world. But among the collectors of the brand there is one that is something like the holy grail: it is the Harley-Davidson Panhead 1955 engine 55-FLE-5204, which was owned by the idol of Mexico, Pedro Infante Cruz.

Pedro Infante, passionate about motorcycles, cars and planes

That is why the American actor who was popular for his role as Rocky, Sylvester Stallone, sought to acquire it knowing that it belonged to the idol of the Mexican people. However, his efforts were useless because the owner of the unit, for several years and up to the present, Gerardo Lealquien, refused to sell it to him.

In addition to Sylvester Stallone, Salinas Pliego also wanted the Harley-Davidson

Later, the owner would also reveal that Ricardo Salinas Pliego, owner of the famous appliance stores, would also try the same thing as the protagonist of Rambo, of course he would not achieve his mission either.

The interest of both personalities in owning Pedro Infante’s vehicle is due to several factors that make it a valuable motorcycle: the first is that it belonged to the great Mexican actor who tragically died in a plane crash in 1957; the second is that it is an old Harley-Davidson model.

The third is that Pedro Infante himself bought it at Servicio Harley-Davidson S.A. de C.V., which was located on Calle de Bolívar, nothing more and nothing less than the first establishment that the brand had in Mexico, and which was owned by Benjamín Martín del Campo from Zacatecas, partner and friend of Arthur Davidson himself.

Pedro Infante’s Harley is in Guanajuato

Gerardo Lealquien, a resident of Salamanca, Guanajuato, current owner of the Harley Davidson Panhead that belonged and was ridden by Pedro Infante himself, says that he got hold of the vehicle in question when he bought it for 35 million pesos (of the old ones) from Commander Rafael Pliego, who in turn received it as a birthday present from the same actor who gave life to “Pepe El Toro”.

When he received it, it started, but it was not in optimal conditions to be handled safely, since it did not have brakes, the blades were dented, it had adaptations like bicycle devils in order to be used in stunts, among other imperfections. It is currently fully restored with original parts, ready to be driven.

In 2019 the Harley-Davidson Panhead 1955 was taken to the Pedro Infante Museum in Guamúchil, Sinaloa, to be exhibited for a few days.
