Westjet inaugurated its services to Tulum on Saturday, November 9, expanding its sun destination offerings for the winter season and solidifying its position as the leading Canadian airline in Mexico’s leisure market. Flight WS 2320 took off from Calgary at 08:55 AM, and flight WS 2034 from Toronto at 09:00 AM.
“Westjet is pleased to further enhance our connections to sun destinations this winter with a new seasonal service to Tulum from Calgary and Toronto, allowing passengers from coast to coast to explore the beauty of Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Consolidating our position as the country’s leading leisure airline, the WestJet Group will provide more seat capacity than any other airline to sun destinations this winter,” said Daniel Fajardo, vice president of network planning and schedules for Westjet.
The introduction of services to Tulum from Calgary and Toronto expands Westjet’s offerings to the Riviera Maya in Mexico. The airline offers convenient schedules on both routes, allowing travelers to connect from Canadian destinations through the WestJet network.
According to statistical reports from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency of Mexico (AFAC), between January and September 2024, 3,717,377 passengers were transported on 23,151 flights between Mexico and Canada, representing a 9.2% increase compared to the same period last year. Westjet is the second-largest airline operator in this segment, with a 23.9% market share.
Additionally, Westjet Vacations has partnered with 30 hotels near Tulum International Airport, making it easy for customers to book their travel and accommodation in one transaction.

As reported by REPORTUR.mx, Westjet announced in May that from November 9, 2024, to April 2025, it would offer new flights to Tulum International Airport from Canada, as stated by Jorge Molina, general director of Tourism and Municipal Economy of this municipality.
