PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX.— With a massive turnout and an economic impact exceeding one million pesos, the Eleventh Tamale and Atole Fair 2026 concluded with great success, solidifying its position as an emblematic event promoted by the government, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, to strengthen the local economy and preserve Mexican traditions.
For two days, Plaza 28 de Julio became a meeting point for Playa del Carmen families, national visitors, and foreign tourists, who enjoyed a wide sample of traditional Mexican gastronomy, prepared by local hands, in an atmosphere of identity, culture, and community coexistence.

He emphasized that high citizen participation was a key factor in the success of the fair, as it exceeded expectations in both attendance and consumption, resulting in combined income exceeding one million pesos for the exhibitors.
“When citizens participate and consume local products, a virtuous circle is generated that strengthens the economy of our families and consolidates Playa del Carmen as a destination with identity, tradition, and opportunities,” he said.
In addition to the Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction, those present at the awards ceremony included the Secretary of Tourism, Estefanía Hernández; the President of the Riviera Maya Chefs Association, Héctor Escobedo; the Director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and Arts, Ernesto Martínez Cuéllar; and Yazmín León, representative of the participants.
With actions like this, the Playa del Carmen City Council reaffirms its commitment to promoting spaces that integrate tradition, tourism, and economic development, strengthening cultural identity and generating well-being for local producers.
