Second Herbal Medicine Workshop for Women Promotes Well-Being and Self-Care in Playa del Carmen
With the goal of strengthening the physical and emotional well-being of women through knowledge of medicinal plants, the Women’s Institute of the Municipality of Playa del Carmen held the second Herbal Medicine Workshop for Women, an activity focused on promoting self-care, practical learning, and the development of creative skills.
The initiative is part of the government’s “Prosperity for All” program and seeks to introduce participants to traditional natural medicine techniques while also encouraging skills that can become opportunities for entrepreneurship and personal development.
A Space to Learn About Natural Medicine and Handmade Products
During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to learn about different applications of traditional herbal medicine and take part in the preparation of products made with natural ingredients.
The workshop focused on teaching basic techniques for making skin-care ointments, handmade exfoliants, and herbal infusions prepared with medicinal and aromatic plants.
In addition to practical learning, the activity aimed to create a space where women interested in adopting natural alternatives for everyday health and well-being could interact and share experiences.
Where and When Was the Workshop Held?
The training took place on Wednesday, July 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Women’s Institute of Playa del Carmen.
The facilities are located on Avenida Sur, between Avenida Azulejos and Avenida Periférico, in the Villas del Sol neighborhood, one of the municipality’s fastest-growing residential areas.
As part of the recommendations, participants were asked to bring an apron to facilitate the hands-on activities scheduled during the session.
Specialist Shared Knowledge on Traditional Herbal Medicine
The workshop was led by Alondra Montoya, a specialist in the use and application of medicinal plants, who guided participants through each stage of the training.
Throughout the session, she explained the properties of various herbs and demonstrated how to create personal care products using simple and accessible techniques.
Participants learned how to prepare natural moisturizing ointments, handmade skin exfoliants, and a variety of herbal infusions made from aromatic plants.
Workshop with Limited Capacity and Participation Fee
The Women’s Institute reported that the activity had a participation fee of 250 pesos and limited capacity to ensure more personalized instruction throughout the learning process.
Those interested in participating in future editions or obtaining information about upcoming workshops can contact the Institute via WhatsApp at 985 122 0304, which has been designated for registration and inquiries.
Through activities like this, the municipal government aims to strengthen women’s participation in community learning spaces and promote alternatives focused on comprehensive health, self-care, and the responsible use of natural resources.
