Aerus, a Mexican airline, reported that it has new routes that include the cities of Cancún, Cozumel, Mérida, Chetumal, Chichén Itzá, and Villahermosa, which will boost tourism and connectivity between the different cities, contributing to job creation, and in general, promoting the economic and tourist development of the entire region.

Starting May 13, regular commercial flights will be established between Cozumel-Cancún-Cozumel every day and Cancún-Mérida-Cancún every day. Also, from July 1, the routes Cancún-Chetumal-Cancún on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and Cozumel-Chichén Itzá-Cozumel every day will be established.

Meanwhile, Royal Caribbean International cruise line announced a $75 million investment to build the Royal Beach Club Cozumel in Mexico, which will open in 2026.

“We are thrilled to leverage our partnership with the community and local government to continue attracting our passengers to Mexico,” said Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group.

The global consortium detailed that it is expanding its destination offerings with Royal Beach Club Cozumel, a beach club that will be located along the western coast of the island. Michael Bealey, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, assured that “Cozumel is an incredible destination and the beach club will perfectly complement everything the island has to offer as an experience that combines familiar touches of Royal Caribbean with the spirit of Mexico, along with amenities and activities for all types of vacationers.”
