Quintana Roo is strengthening its reputation as a world-class gastronomic destination. In the first edition of the Michelin Guide for Mexico, 13 establishments from the state were included on the prestigious list, while three restaurants received Michelin Stars.

“With great pride, I want to share that our wonderful state, Quintana Roo, has been recognized by the prestigious Michelin Guide as one of the first six and most important gastronomic destinations included in the first selection for our country, Mexico,” stated Governor Mara Lezama.

She highlighted the three restaurants in Quintana Roo that earned Michelin Stars:

  • Le Chique, led by chef Jonatán Gómez Luna
  • Ha’, directed by chefs Carlos Gaytán and Cristian Castillo Sánchez
  • Cocina de Autor Riviera Maya, led by chef Nahúm Velasco

Le Chique

Le Chique is located inside the Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancún, part of the Karisma hotel group in Puerto Morelos.

The restaurant has been recognized as one of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants and is led by chef Jonatán Gómez Luna.

Guests experience a seductive multisensory culinary adventure that challenges traditional ideas of how fine dining should look, feel, and taste. Dishes are deconstructed and reconstructed to resemble entirely different creations, making the dining experience both artistic and surprising.

Ha’

Ha’ is another restaurant awarded a Michelin Star. It is located inside Hotel Xcaret in Playa del Carmen and is led by chefs Carlos Gaytán and Cristian Castillo Sánchez.

The restaurant represents an innovative culinary proposal that elevates both the Riviera Maya and Grupo Xcaret, becoming the first restaurant within the hotel group to receive such an important distinction.

Cocina de Autor Riviera Maya

The third restaurant awarded a Michelin Star is Cocina de Autor Riviera Maya, located inside the Grand Velas hotel in Playa del Carmen and directed by chef Nahúm Velasco.

Michelin Stars are considered the most coveted distinction in the culinary world, recognizing excellence in cuisine and symbolizing prestige for the chefs and restaurants that receive them.

Governor Mara Lezama emphasized that these recognitions will help attract more tourists seeking unique gastronomic experiences to Quintana Roo.

In addition to the Michelin Star winners, the Michelin Guide also recommended 13 restaurants for their culinary excellence:

  • Arca
  • Autor
  • Bu’ul
  • Casa Banana
  • El Fogón
  • Hartwood
  • Kiosko Verde
  • La Casa de las Mayoras
  • María Dolores
  • Nü Tulum
  • Posada Margherita
  • Wild
  • Woodend

Michelin Bib Gourmand Recognitions

Four restaurants were also recognized for offering exceptional quality at affordable prices:

  • Axiote Cocina de México, led by chef Xavier Pérez Stone
  • Cetli
  • Mestixa
  • Punta Corcho, led by chef Daniel Ovadía

Axiote

Axiote Cocina de México is considered one of the most interesting culinary proposals in Playa del Carmen and Quintana Roo.

Chef Xavier Pérez Stone offers Mexican cuisine inspired by traditional flavors and sustainability, with the Michelin Guide specifically highlighting the excellent balance between quality and price.

Punta Corcho

Punta Corcho is one of the many projects created by renowned chef Daniel Ovadía and has frequently appeared on lists of Mexico’s best restaurants since its opening.

Chef Ovadía has also launched another project in Puerto Morelos called Muelle Once. The Michelin recommendation is expected to attract even more national and international visitors.

In addition to Quintana Roo, the first Michelin Guide selection for Mexico also includes Mexico City, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Oaxaca, and Nuevo León.

Quintana Roo continues to diversify its tourism appeal. Alongside its beautiful beaches, impressive archaeological sites, and natural wonders, the state now adds an internationally recognized culinary scene that is expected to attract visitors from around the world.
