Tulum, QR — Tulum will have an intercity bus terminal and new taxis with security cameras and digital payment systems. Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo made the announcement Thursday after a meeting with city officials.
Castañón Trejo said that he met with the Mobility Institute and the Taxi Drivers’ Union to discuss key projects. Some of those projects, he announced, include a new intercity bus terminal, taxi ranks and ride-sharing apps.
Tulum’s new mobility plan also includes the incorporation of modern vehicles and better-organized taxi ranks. Tulum taxis will be equipped with a digital payment option, security cameras, and translation apps for non-Spanish speaking passengers.
Castañón Trejo met on Thursday with Enrique Pérez, Delegate of the State Institute of Mobility in Tulum and Manuel Solís Alcocer, President of the Taxi Drivers’ Union. They agreed on the importance of working together to increase progress and benefits for residents and tourists.
Diego Castañón Trejo said this Thursday that “mobility in Tulum is built through teamwork.
“I met with the Mobility Institute and the Taxi Drivers’ Union to align key projects: a new intercity bus terminal, better organized taxi ranks, the use of transportation apps, and new, more modern vehicles.
“Taxis equipped with security cameras, digital payment systems and translation services will arrive soon to improve the experience of both residents and visitors.
“The growth of Tulum requires appropriate solutions, so we will continue to move forward with order, dialogue, and vision of the future.”
