A rental company worker was arrested by the State Police because he didn’t have his driver’s license on him. The young man, who was traveling on his motorcycle, was stopped for a document check while in route to work. However, at that time, he only had his INE (National Electoral Institute ID) with him since he needed to fill up on gas and was just a short distance from the job site.

However, during the check, the situation escalated when the officers allegedly verbally assaulted the young man after he defended himself against the arrest attempt. He argued that he studies political science and that the actions taken by the officers were wrong, which further agitated the police elements. They then proceeded to threaten him and take him away under arrest on charges unrelated to the original reason for the stop.

The police unit involved in this incident was 12356. This case has raised concerns among citizens about arrest practices and the use of authority by law enforcement.

The situation highlights the importance of having the necessary licenses, but it also raises questions about the proportionality and legality of police actions.

Officer Involved in Alleged Robbery Removed from Service

Last Friday night, construction workers in the Zona Maya area reported an alleged robbery by municipal police officers. This incident has sparked anger and concern among residents.

In light of these serious accusations, the authorities announced that the officers involved have been removed from service. They are part of the Public Security and Citizen Protection Directorate of Tulum.

According to statements from those affected, the police officers allegedly stole money and valuables from the construction workers, who are originally from Yucatan state.

As a result of the alleged abuse of power, the injured parties filed a complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE). The officers took advantage of their vulnerability and the circumstances in which they were found to commit this crime.

After the incident became public knowledge, citizens expressed that despite the implementation of a “zero tolerance” policy towards corruption within Tulum’s security forces, incidents like these have not decreased. Instead, members of the corporation are now facing investigations for extortion, including against international tourists.

The local administration has urged citizens to report any abuse or irregularity they experience as part of a transparency and justice initiative called “Blindaje Tulum”. However, this effort has yet to yield the desired results.
