The Institute of Mobility, through a law and a series of requirements, allows these applications in the state.

InDrive, a new platform, has recently begun operations in Cancun, providing yet another option for transportation. This development comes after a law was enacted to permit these platforms to operate under the oversight of the Institute of Mobility in the region.

Alonso Ramos, head of government relations for InDrive, explained that the app is now available and aims to promote mobility-related initiatives. Like other platforms, InDrive will also allow the incorporation of taxis.

“We initiated operations in the city yesterday, and we are the first application to receive a license from the state government. Despite the numerous platform options, we are considering expanding to other municipalities,” he added.

A specialized team is currently registering drivers to join the platform and provide users with the expected service. They anticipate a 30% growth in the short term.

Since 2018, the application has been available in Latin America and is currently present in 17 countries, offering various products and services. In 2021, they expanded to include freight services, and this year they are adding Cancun to their coverage.

In Mexico, InDrive operates as the third most downloaded application and is already present in 50 cities, including Mexico City, Querétaro, Monterrey, and Guadalajara. The expansion continues, allowing them to participate in this mode of transportation for people through an app.

Thanks to Quintana Roo’s mobility law, applications are now permitted, provided they meet a series of requirements. This has led to the arrival of more companies offering this service.
