Oaxaca de Juárez.— In the framework of the Afro-Mexican Black People’s Day, the head of the
Secretariat for Indigenous and Afro-Mexican Peoples (Sepia), Eufrosina Cruz Mendoza, indicated that a process of recognition, respect, and inclusion in favor of the indigenous peoples of the entity, launching various actions with differentiated attention.

With the programs “Seeds of Talent”, “Women of Corn”, “Seed Fund”, “Windows of Knowledge” and “Family Women”, care is provided to Afro-Mexican girls, boys, youth, women, and men.

Likewise, together with the Devlyn Foundation, ophthalmic exams are carried out and lenses are
delivered free of charge. Also, as a result of teamwork with the National Water Commission (Conagua), potable water and sanitation projects are being carried out in Afro-Mexican agencies,
communities, and municipalities.

“In Oaxaca there are more than 196 thousand Afro-Mexicans and Afro-Mexicans, with whom we are working for a differentiated recognition, opening the way to participation and inclusion, but above all to the visibility of this town that houses part of our history as Oaxacans,” he said. the official.

Finally, he explained that from La Sepia it is very clear that the face of Oaxaca, its present and its future, are determined by social welfare, the safeguarding of its cultural expressions, access to justice, and productive development of native peoples.
