Are Mayan Train tickets cheaper than bus tickets? It depends on the route and the schedule. On December 1, the first tickets for the route that runs from San Francisco, Campeche to Cancún, Quintana Roo went on sale.

The route corresponds to the three sections that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador inaugurated this Friday and that will begin operating on Saturday, December 16.

For the moment, the trains will only travel through the 14 stations that are part of the inaugurated sections at times ranging from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

And the price? Although the National Tourism Fund (Fonatur) had announced that ticket rates would be 60 pesos for national visitors and 80 pesos for foreigners, for now only tourist and premier class tickets are available, which exceed one thousand pesos.
