José Antonio “N” was arrested after being released from the General Hospital, after being identified as the alleged perpetrator of the crash that left seven people dead in Cancún, Quintana Roo, including a Monterrey family with two minors.
According to the State Attorney General’s Office, the man will face charges of negligent homicide after allegedly speeding on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard, heading toward Playa del Carmen.
Preliminary investigations indicate that he lost control of his truck due to the slippery pavement, causing him to veer into the opposite lane and crash head-on into another vehicle carrying the family, who were returning from a wedding.
The tragedy, which occurred on one of Cancún’s main thoroughfares, left the public shocked by the magnitude of the human losses.
State authorities confirmed that the victims were originally from Nuevo León and were visiting Quintana Roo.
According to INFO 7, after being treated for injuries at a hospital, José Antonio “N” was taken into custody by traffic officers and, upon his release, was placed under arrest and placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry. His legal status will be determined in the next 48 hours.
Quintana Roo authorities reiterated that they will continue the investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident and ensure justice for the victims and their families.
What happened to the family who lost their lives in Cancún?
Last Tuesday, September 16, a tragic traffic accident occurred in Cancún, Quintana Roo, leaving seven people dead.
The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard, one of the city’s main avenues.
According to initial reports, a Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck carrying five construction workers was traveling at excessive speed on wet pavement, causing the vehicle to lose control and cause a fatal impact.
Authorities initially confirmed the deaths of five people at the scene; however, during transport to local hospitals, two more died due to the severity of their injuries.
