“From the federal highway you can enter the archaeological zone (of Tulum) and the new section of the Jaguar National Park. Today we are starting new projects, including a sighting tower,” highlighted the head of the Secretariat of Agrarian and Territorial Development. and Urbano (Sedatu), Román Meyer Falcón, during a work tour of the municipality.

Meyer Falcón indicated that approximately 2 billion pesos are being invested among all the equipment that is being carried out in the Jaguar Park: “we are always, every 15 days, inspecting the progress, time is very tight, But we are sure that we can open the park at the end of the year.”

In an interview carried out while doing the supervision tour, the federal official explained that among the works in progress is the connection of the Tulum station of the Mayan Train with the Jaguar Park, which will have practically 800 linear meters from the installation to the last section of this area. He pointed out that they are also building a new deceleration lane on the highway towards the park, which will have two accesses: from the station and from the highway. The work includes a roundabout and a deceleration lane.

He said that they are building a viewing tower, which will be in the area that corresponds to the 300 new hectares decreed as part of the Protected Natural Area and from that structure you will be able to see with the naked eye the archaeological zone of Tulum and everything. what corresponds to the park.

Regarding the viewpoint of the southern access, he explained that it is very symbolic because it positions one of the main accesses along with the central access, where the new Museum of Mayan Culture will be and finally the northern access to the Mayan Train station. In this 19-meter-high work, tourists will be able to see practically the entire conformation of the archaeological zone, the entire beach of the Jaguar National Park and have a panoramic view of the city of Tulum.

He clarified that access to these structures will be free and they will be a reference point where tourists can buy tickets to go to the archaeological zone. It is a work that is being coordinated with the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena); This last agency will be the one who will operate the Jaguar Park.
